Mexico​ (  listen [ˈmexiko] ), is officially called the United Mexican States.

It is a sovereign country located in the southern part of North America with its capital in Mexico City .

It is the 13th largest independent state in the world.

Mexico is a federation comprising 31 states plus Mexico City (CDMX), which is the capital and its most populous city. Other metropolises in the country include Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Toluca, Tijuana, and León.

Popocatépetl

Mexico sits on the “Ring of Fire,” one of the most violent earthquake and volcanic zones on earth.

It is the second highest volcano in Mexico, with a maximum altitude of 5,500 meters above sea level, only after Citlaltépetl , at 5,747 m.

Mexico is also home to the world’s smallest volcano, measuring just 43 feet (13 meters) tall.

Mariachis

Mariachi is a genre of regional Mexican music that dates back to at least the 18th century, evolving over time in the countryside of various regions of western Mexico.

In 2011, UNESCO recognized Mariachi as an intangible cultural heritage.

Song styles and instrumentals performed with mariachi include rancheras, corridos, cumbias, boleros, ballads, sones, huapangos, jarabes, danzones, joropos, pasodobles, marchas, polkas, waltzes, and chotís.
